Physiotherapy · Taradale

Welcome to Safe Harbour Physiotherapy.

Just as a long-haul ship returns to harbour after weathering the open sea, our bodies need a place to recover, reset, and regain strength after injury or persistent pain. Recovery is not always about what we can see on the surface. Sometimes the deeper systems—like the nervous system that drives and protects us—need attention too.

Because recovery needs a harbour

We take a whole-person approach.

At Safe Harbour Physiotherapy, we take a whole-person approach. We look beyond the injury to understand how your body and nervous system are working together, so you can move forward with confidence and return to what matters most to you.

“A ship in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.”

Persistent pain

Pain Physiotherapy

Comprehensive assessment and treatment for complex or persistent pain conditions, including injuries that are not resolving as expected. This may include presentations such as neural hypersensitivity, CRPS, or chronic low back pain. Sessions are tailored to you and often combine pain education, hands-on therapy, and progressive rehabilitation to support meaningful, lasting change.

Understanding pain

Pain Education

Understanding your pain is a powerful first step in recovery. We help you make sense of what you're experiencing and apply this knowledge in a practical, personalised way. Pain education is usually integrated into physiotherapy sessions, with the option of dedicated education appointments if needed.

Musculoskeletal care

General Physiotherapy

Assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, including sprains, strains, and acute conditions, as well as post-operative rehabilitation. Focused on restoring movement, reducing pain, and supporting a safe return to activity.

Your first appointment

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring any relevant medical information, such as referral letters, scan or imaging reports, and a list of current medications. Wear comfortable clothing that allows us to easily assess the area of concern (for example, shorts for a knee injury or a singlet for a shoulder issue).

If your injury is covered by ACC, it's helpful to bring your claim number if you have it. You may also like to bring any questions or goals you have—this helps us tailor your assessment and treatment to what matters most to you.
